What You Need to Know About the New Navy Signing Bonus

April 16, 2022 by USMilitary.org

A new Navy signing bonus has just been announced. It’s sure to interest anyone who is thinking of enlisting in the armed forces.

The new enlistment incentives offer up to $25,000. This article will explore what this signing bonus entails and what it means for anyone joining the Navy.

Requirements to Meet the Navy Signing Bonus

The Navy is offering at least $25,000 to new recruits. The bonus is only available to recruits who enlist in active duty and ship out before June 30th. The purpose of the bonus is to fill recruiting gaps between now and June 30th.

Sailors scheduled to ship between July and September can also earn the bonus. They must reclassify to ship before the end of June to do so.

Sailors can pair the $25,000 early shipping bonus with other bonuses. For example, sailors serving on nuclear subs could earn substantially more.

Other Navy technology jobs may provide bonuses as well. The bonuses max out at $50,000.

The Recent History of Navy Military Benefits

This marks the first time the Navy has given a minimum $25,000 bonus. Recruits in some positions could already earn more bonus money. According to the Navy website, Electronics Technicians Nuclear (ETNs) could earn a bonus of $38,000.

In January, the Navy announced that it would give bonuses of up to $50,000 to new recruits. The enlistment bonuses include Enlistment Bonus Source Rate (EBSR) and EB for Shipping (EBSHP). EBSR bonuses are part of the Navy’s support demands for its nuclear Navy.

The Navy plans to pay the bonuses in one or multiple installments. The release of funds is based on the sailor’s accomplishments as they relate to bonus criteria.

Why Join the Navy?

The Navy is one of the most respected branches of the armed forces. A career in the Navy offers many opportunities for advancement and education.

The Navy also offers great military benefits. These include medical and dental care, retirement benefits, and 30 days of paid vacation each year.

Enlisting in the Navy is a big decision. Still, it can be a great way to serve your country and advance your career. If you’re considering enlisting, be sure to take advantage of the new Navy signing bonus.

How to Join the Navy

If you’re interested in joining the Navy, the first step is to visit the nearest recruitment office. A recruiter will help you determine if you meet the qualifications for enlistment.

If you’re eligible, the next step is to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test. This test will help determine what job in the Navy would be a good fit for you.

Once you’ve completed the ASVAB, you’ll need to undergo a physical examination. If you pass both, you’ll be able to enlist in the Navy.
