Top 3 Questions Military Recruiters Get Asked

August 12, 2021 by Kevin

U.S. Military recruiters have one primary job. Their goal is to convince young men and women to join one of the branches of the military. They make themselves available to potential recruits who are interested in serving their country or simply just trying to improve their lives in general. The military offers many benefits to those who are willing to serve their country. This includes the ability to travel the world and receive a college education. A potential recruit may have questions about the different branches. It’s up to the recruiter to make sure they get their answers.

Why Should I Consider Joining the Military?

Many recruits ask why they should consider a career in the military. There are several reasons to serve. Above all, you get to serve your country. You also get to choose from many options. The Coast Guard, Navy, Army, Air Force, and the Marines all offer benefits to the servicemen and women who choose to join their ranks. You will also receive an education. Between the hands-on skills you learn and the option to return to school to earn a degree, you can obtain many life skills that will enable you to find work after you leave the military.

What Are the Requirements for Joining?

The different branches of the military each have specific requirements to join. Age and physical characteristics like your height, weight, and overall general health are important factors. There are specific health conditions that will disqualify you from joining the military. Chronic health conditions and physical deformities that are discovered during your entrance exam may be the cause of your ineligibility. When it comes to your education, the military looks strongly at your ASVAB scores. ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery exam.

How Long Will My Term of Service Be?

Your term of service will depend on which branch of the military you want to join and how much you plan to accomplish. In most cases, recruits sign up for 4-years of service.

There are some positions, however, that will require a longer commitment. The Navy Seals and Army Rangers are hihgly skilled forces that commit to longer periods of time. For many, once the four years are over, they can choose to re-enlist or leave the military and go back to civilian life. They also have the option to turn their military service into a lifelong career. This gives them an opportunity to complete their education and maintain their service record as well. They can look forward to retiring at a much earlier age and enjoying time with their families.

Military recruiters are trained to provide information to new recruits on what they need to know in order to make a wise decision. This means giving them all of the information they have at their disposal, both good and bad. Recruiters look for individuals with specific skills who will thrive in a military environment. The goal is to offer these potential recruits an academic education as well as hands-on training they can rely on, both in and out of the military.
