Which Are the Top 5 US Military Bases for Families?

July 19, 2022 by Kevin

Serving in the military is among the many honors that a US citizen can bestow upon their country. However, it is a calling that requires great sacrifice, not just from the service member but also from their loved ones.

For military families, deployment can mean months or even years apart from their spouse or parent. And for those with small children, it can be difficult to find quality child care and schools in the area surrounding the base. This article will focus on the best US military bases that every member serving in the military and their families can call home.

Fort Carson, CO

Fort Carson is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is home to the 4th Infantry Division and the 10th Special Forces Group. The base has a population of over 14,000 active duty personnel and nearly 8,500 family members. Located about 5 miles South of Colorado Springs, this military base is revered for its cool military base life and cool mountain air.

Naval Station Mayport

Naval Station Mayport is located in Jacksonville, Florida and is one of the largest naval stations in the world. The base houses over 30 ships and 32,000 service members and their families.

The base has several different amenities for families, including schools, child care, medical facilities and recreation facilities. Military officers living on this base with their families will enjoy a modern community center, restaurants, swimming pools as well as a modern golf course

Marine Corps Base Hawaii

Marine Corps Base Hawaii is located in Kaneohe Bay on the island of Oahu. The base houses the 3rd Marine Regiment, the 4th Marine Regiment and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina and is home to the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and the 20th Special Forces Group. The base has a population of over 50,000 active duty personnel and nearly 20,000 family members.
